Autumn Wishes!

Its funny to be thinking about fall/autumn as we are still hovering around 100 degrees here in Northern Utah! I love fall but I don’t like the fact that it means winter is just around the corner. So I always leave summer behind with mixed feelings.

This card was made using a stamp set from Taylored Expressions called “cutting edge”.

I stamped the image and colored it with copic markers. I then used the coordinating dies to cut the image out, leaving quite a bit of white space at the bottom. I layered it with some fall colored patterned paper.

I then stamped the sentiment “autumn wishes”, from the same stamp set, in the bottom right corner. I added some tiny images from the stamp set around the sentiment, along with some fall colored gems. I then matted it with black cardstock and added it to a white card base.

Heatwave!

We have been in the middle of a heatwave…temperatures have been over 100 degrees all week. We should be around 91 degrees right now so its much hotter than normal. I’m looking forward to things cooling down a little.

I still haven’t organized my pictures from our vacation but here is one that I took at the Idaho/Canada border. We found this beautiful spot. Across the water is Canada.

Today I was working on some Thanksgiving cards with the cute “Gnome for the Holidays” by Photoplay.

I love these gnomes…they have them for Halloween, Christmas, Thanksgiving, July 4th etc. I used the gnome for the holidays paper pad and layered a few of the papers.

I stamped the images of the gnomes and colored them using copic markers. I then cut them out using the coordinating dies.

After adhering all the papers, I then added the images of the gnomes. For the sentiments I used stickers from the 12×12″ paper pack “Gnome for the holidays, Thanksgiving”.

Thats it for today. See you next time!

Its been a while!

It’s been a while since I posted. Our family went on a vacation to beautiful Montana and Northern Idaho. It was so nice to get away for a while and to see some beautiful country. Whenever we take our yearly roadtrips, we always imagine what it would be like to live on a farm in the middle of nowhere. Maybe one day we will get to experience that!

This was at an old ghost town in Bannach, Montana.

This beautiful spot is at the Idaho/Canadian border.

So I am back home and trying to get into the routine of cardmaking again. I’ve been focusing on Halloween lately so I will share this card that I made with some Spellbinders dies.

I started by using some distress inks on the background and then stamping the trees. Everything else on the card is die cut from the Sunday drive/Halloween dies from Spellbinders. I cut everything from colored cardstock and pieced it all together. It took some time as there are a lot of small pieces, but I love how it turned out.

Here are the links to the items I used.

Sick dog and Halloween cards

Maggie wasn’t feeling good last week and her ears were bleeding. Initially we thought she had allergies and made her ears bleed by scratching them so much, but it turned out she had major infections in both ears. After a few hours at the vet’s office, she came home with lots of medication. Some of the medication is in her ears and it gradually disperses over time. Its made her pretty deaf so thats been interesting. She’s still not back to normal but she’s improving every day.

I’ve been having fun making some Halloween cards. This set was made with a stamp set from Taylored Expressions.

I stamped the images and colored them with copic markers. I then used the coordinating dies to cut them out.

I used some Halloween cardstock for the background and stamped and embossed the sentiment on a black strip of cardstock. I adhered everything to a grey cardbase.

I love how they turned out!

Floral card

I’ve spent a lot of time over the last few days stamping, coloring and cutting images for cards. This way I will be able to put a card together more quickly…I hope!!

Today I made a floral card on an embossed background.

It was a pretty simple card to make. To start I embossed the background using some white cardstock and a Darice embossing folder.

I then stamped and colored an image from Taylored Expressions called Beautiful Blossoms and then I used the coordinating dies to cut the image.

The sentiment I used is from the same stamp set and I stamped it with versamark on some black cardstock. I then used white embossing powder and heat emobossed it.

I used liquid glue to attach the flowers to the panel and then used foam tape to attach the sentiment. I matted the panel with black cardstock and then adhered it to a white card base.

I hope you like it. I like how simple it is.

Where does the time go?

Its been a while! I didn’t realize how long it had been since I had posted on the blog. Life has been busy and I haven’t had a lot of time to make any cards. I did make a few yesterday and I’ve also started working on some wooden decor for Halloween!

Here’s one of the cards I made yesterday:

I used the stamp set “Space Explorer” from MFT. I stamped the images and colored them with copic markers.

For the background I used distress oxide inks and then I splattered it with water, then white paint and perfect pearls. I then adhered the images on to the background. I matted it with black cardstock and glued it to a white card base.

I then stamped the sentiment on some white paper and then added some distress ink to it to help it blend in more.

You can find the stamp set here: https://mftstamps.com/products/bb-space-explorer?_pos=4&_sid=82074681b&_ss=r

I hope this finds you well. See you next time!

Clean and simple cards

Today I decided to make a clean and simple card. I usually love to layer patterned paper but I wanted to challenge myself to do something a little more simple. I love how it turned out.

I used a die from Simon Says Stamp called “Sunflower Frame” and cut it from white cardstock 3 times. I then adhered those layers together. I then used some distress oxide inks and colored a piece of white cardstock and then cut the die again.

I used some patterned paper for the background and glued the flower on to that. Then I paper pieced the petals. I glued it on to a white panel and then on to a white cardbase. I was so tempted to add more patterned paper to the background but I liked how elegant it looked with just the white.

I stamped “Always here for you” on some black cardstock and heat embossed it with white embossing powder. I then adhered it to the card.

Feeling of thanks

Despite all that is going on in the world and the challenges we all face in our daily lives, there are always things to be thankful for. This is something I have needed to be reminded of a lot lately as we are facing a lot of trials. So I made this simple card today.

I started with a white card base and then added a layer of kraft cardstock. I then embossed some white cardstock.

I cut out “thank you” in white card stock and then its shadow in kraft cardstock and layered those together.

I adhered everything together and that finished the card. I really like its simplicity and I love kraft and white together.

Stormy Sunday

We’ve had lots of wind and rain today…our temperatures have dropped significantly. Its kind of a relief from the hot sun, as long as it doesn’t linger!

As usual, its been a busy week. My daughter deals with three chronic illnesses and we’ve had Dr’s appointments this week with more coming up.

I didn’t get to spend a lot of time cardmaking this week but I did make a set of July 4th cards.

I went to my local craft store this week and found paper packs by Photoplay called Gnome for the Holidays. They ahve the cutest gnome themed papers for lots of holidays…Thanksgiving, Halloween, Christmas etc. I used the July 4th pack and created these cards.

I just used the paper in the pack to layer and create the cards. I added twine and enamel dots to some.

I didn’t do any stamping on these. Its all just layered or die cut paper. I really love patterned paper so its fun for me to do a set like these. I can’t wait to use the other sets for Halloween etc.

They also had stamps and dies for these holiday gnomes, so I will be making some cards with those too.

I hope this finds you all well.

See you next time!

Happy Fathers Day!

I hope those of you celebrating Fathers Day have a wonderful time. My husband is taking a well deserved break from work today and we will be having a barbecue tonight. I really appreciate how hard he works and looks after our family. I’m also thinking of my dad today. He has been gone for a long time. He was a good man and I still miss him.

Today I am sharing a card that I made using a new stamp set from MFT called “Best Fins”. There are so many cute images in this set that I decided to make a slimline card so I would have the room to use more of the images.

First of all I stamped my images and then colored them with copic markers. I then cut them out with the matching dies. I used a die from Trinity stamps for the front window and then I used distress oxide inks to color it. I splashed it with water and also some perfect pearls for some shine. I used foam tape behind the window panel to give it some dimension and then I framed it out in some navy cardstock.

For the background paper I used some from Mermaid tales by Echo Park. I framed it with navy cardstock. For the background of the “windows”, I used an embossing folder from Echo Park and shaded the edges with some faded jeans distress oxide ink.

I stamped the sentiment “Sending oceans of love” with Simon Says Stamp soft navy ink and then I glued all of the images onto the card.

Here are some links to some of the products I used for this card.
