Despite all that is going on in the world and the challenges we all face in our daily lives, there are always things to be thankful for. This is something I have needed to be reminded of a lot lately as we are facing a lot of trials. So I made this simple card today.
I started with a white card base and then added a layer of kraft cardstock. I then embossed some white cardstock.
I cut out “thank you” in white card stock and then its shadow in kraft cardstock and layered those together.
I adhered everything together and that finished the card. I really like its simplicity and I love kraft and white together.
I still haven’t been feeling the greatest but I was determined to work on something, so I made a couple of quick cards with the new stamp sets I got from Gerda Steiner Designs. The first card is made with the chicken scratch stamp set.
I stamped the images and then colored them with alcohol markers. I used a cloud edge stencil and distress oxide inks for the background and added some grass. I got a few ink spots on the card so I added some sequins to hide them.
For the 2nd card I used the Lovely Panda stamp set.
I stamped the image and sentiment on a Polaroid shaker frame die from MFT. I layered some cute papers and then used some adhesive foam to add some dimension to the image.
I’m hoping to work on more cards tomorrow. I’ve kind of lost my creative bug over the last few days but I’m hoping for improvement tomorrow!
Before I left on our trip I ordered a few things from one of my favorite stamping stores “My Favorite Things”. The box was here when I got home so finally this afternoon I got to play with some of my new things. I chose the die set “Fishbowl Die-namics”. This is what I made.
Basically everything you see has been cut from colored cardstock and layered together. I added the white dots on the fish with a gel pen and added “grains of sand” with brown copic markers.
I also bought the sentiment stamp set that goes along with this and stamped “You’re Fin-tastic” to finish it off.
Its been a week already and its only Wednesday! On Monday I went into afib so that pretty much took me out of commission for the day. Yesterday I had a Facetime appointment with my cardiologist. It was interesting to say the least. Kind of nice to “see” him from the comfort of my home but also kind of strange. So I get to wear a heart monitor for 30 days again. I did this last year around this time. It wasn’t too bad until towards the end of the 30 days when I had run out of places to stick the electrodes and I got such a bad rash from the adhesive. We had gone away for Memorial Weekend and my skin was so irritated that I took the monitor off for a few hours. We were in the middle of nowhere when my phone rang and the monitor people were calling to make sure I was still alive!! It was pretty funny. Yes, I was still alive, just so darn itchy!!
Today we are taking Maggie to the vet. It will be strange once again as they will come to our car and take her in without us. It makes me anxious as I know how stressed she gets at the vet, even when we are with her. She has strange rust colored areas on her body and little black flecks on her stomach. When we google it, it seems it may be from a yeast infection. Hopefully its something that is easy to treat. She’s acting ok. Last night she ran around the yard so long that she just collapsed on the floor when she came in, she completely wore herself out! Every time we all settle down to watch a movie, she starts talking to us because she wants a bone to chew on. The trouble is, she wants a brand new bone every time and she will literally argue with us over it!! Its hilarious. We’ve never had a dog who will “talk” to us before.
We checked on the baby starlings yesterday and they are growing fast. Their eyes are open and their feathers are growing. Its so fun to watch them grow.
So, onto card making. I got a cute new stamp set from My Favorite Things the other day. So I made a birthday card featuring one of gnomes.
I really enjoy using patterned paper on my cards, as well as using stamped images, so this card uses both. I stamped the image and colored it with copic markers. I then cut it out using the matching dies. I got a paper pack from Photo play ages ago that featured garden gnomes and all of the patterned paper was from that.
I stamped the sentiment and then adhered everything together.
Hello all! I hope that all of the mothers out there are having a good day. We are having a quiet day. The girls and my husband gave me some cards and bought me some flowers for the front porch and the deck. One of my daughters is making dinner and we will have a relaxing evening watching a movie together.
Here are the flowers we chose. I think they are so pretty.
Here are our baby birds…they are growing! Its so fun to go out on the deck and to hear them chirping everytime their mom comes to feed them.
So, since it is Mother’s Day, you may expect me to post a Mother’s Day card! Well, you would be wrong! I made a Father’s Day card the other day and thats the one I will share today. It’ll be here before we know it.
I find it hard to make more masculine cards but this one came together quite easily for me. In the Scrapping For Less kit a few months ago, it was all masculine papers and stamps and thats what helped this happen so easily.
So, the paper that I used came from Scrapping For Less. I love their paper as it is a good quality cardstock and it has a sheen to it that I really like. I used a window die and chose some tool themed paper to fill in the spaces. I used the Sunny Studio “tool time” stamp set that came in the kit.
I colored the saw image with copic markers and added some enamel dots to finish it off.
We are in the middle of a bad cold snap right now and even got a little snow on Sunday. I’m glad it’s going to gradually warm up again by the end of the week but it was a reminder of winter being just around the corner! I’ve been cozy and warm inside making cards.… Continue reading Brrr…
Today I’m sharing a card I made with Newton’s Nook Main Street Christmas stamp set. For this card I used some Hero Art’s reactive ink for the background and sprinkled some water on it to get the effect that I love. I stamped the image and then colored it with copic markers. I wanted something… Continue reading Christmas Village card
A week or so ago we drove up into the mountains to see the fall leaves…unfortunately most of the leaves were gone already but it was so beautiful anyway. We even saw a little snow. Here’s some pictures: Today I made a few birthday cards using a stamp set from Penny Black and some dies… Continue reading Birthday cards
There hasn’t been too much going on so I don’t have much to talk about today. I’ve been tired as I couldn’t go to sleep last night so I’ve been dragging all day long. Its a beautiful sunny day.
We have an old grill on our deck that we need to throw away. In our last home, some starlings made a nest inside it two years in a row. This year some other starlings have nested there. They laid 4 eggs and yesterday 3 of them hatched. I don’t think the other egg is going to hatch. The babies are so cute. We love to watch them grow.
So onto a card I made the other day. I don’t usually like bugs but the bugs in this stamp set are adorable. This is a stamp set from Heffy Doodle. Its the first time I’ve used their products and I’ll definately use them again.
Here is the card.
Yellow is my favorite color and I’ve made a few yellow cards lately! Its just so bright and cheery. I stamped the images and colored them with copic alcohol markers. Then I cut them out. For the card base I used Recollections heavy weight cardstock in white and it measures 9″x4″. I used the Whimsy stamps slimline postage die for the front of the card and used 2 yellow polka dot papers for the background.
I placed the images in each of the windows and stamped the sentiment “Sending you big bug hugs”. I used Scotch 3D foam tape to add some dimension to the window.
I think its just so bright and summery, it makes me happy.
The weather has finally changed and things have cooled down, so it feels like fall now! Yesterday my girls and I went to the pumpkin patch for our yearly tradition of picking out pumpkins. It was a beautiful day and we had a lot of fun. Its been a busy time so I haven’t blogged… Continue reading It finally feels like fall!
Its finally cooled down a little for a few days but it’ll warm up again by the middle of the week. It really doesn’t feel like we are almost in October but Im still enjoying making Halloween cards. This one is a slimline card. As always, I stamped my images and then cut them with… Continue reading Halloween slimline card
This card was inspired by my granddaughter who just turned 5 the other day. When she was up here visiting the other week, we were in the yard playing and she picked a dandelion. I told her she should make a wish before she blew on it. Her wish was “I want to be a… Continue reading I want to be a Princess already!!
Its been an uneventful day. I’ve spent most of the day in my craft room without too much to show for the time I’ve spent in here!! I really should clean and organize it but that seems like too much effort! It would be nice to be able to find what I’m looking for though! I don’t have a very big space and I have too many things. I don’t have a very good system for organization.
So today I made a set of notecards. They are very simple but its good to have them on hand, especially nowadays when we can’t see our family and friends as easily as we once could. So its nice to send a note in the mail to let them know they are in our thoughts.
Here are the cards I made:
I embossed some white cardstock and then used different colored cardstock to frame them. I stamped “Hello” in the top left corner and adhered everything together and that was it! Very simple but I like how they turned out.
There’s nothing like waking up at 3:30am and not being able to go back to sleep. So I got up and got ready for the day very early this morning! I’ve been tired all day but I, unfortunately, am one of those people who cannot nap, otherwise I’d be up half the night again tonight. So, I’ve been trying to stay busy, and plan on a very early night tonight!
I made a 3D pop up box card today. It’s ocean themed and the sentiment reads “Sending oceans of love”.
I used two stamp sets for this card. Both were in kits from Scrapping For Less. I stamped the images and then colored them with alcohol markers. I then cut them out. I made the box card using a die set from Echo Park. I embossed some paper and added it to the box and then attached all the images. I used the sentiment “sending oceans of love”.
You can find some of the supplies for this card here:
Its definately spring! We are having another rainy day. We have some crocuses growing in the front yard. Flowers are blooming in all the neighbors yards. It will soon be time to go buy some flowers to plant in our planters that we keep on the front porch…if we are allowed to do that. Our state is getting stricter all the time about what we are allowed to do. We try to only go out when we have to.
This is the card that I couldn’t upload the other day. It makes me long for the warmth and sunshine of the summer. Hopefully by then things will have improved and we will be able to get out and about more.
This is another stamp set from MFT. I used some masking to stamp the images and then colored them with alcohol markers. I used stencils for the clouds and the sun rays. I used distress oxide inks for the background.
Some days are hard. Its hard to get past the anxiety and depression of whats going on and feeling like nothing will get better. Other days I can feel a little bit of hope. I put myself on a weekend break from the news as I get sucked in and keep watching all day, then I get more anxious and depressed! Its been nice to not hear the new numbers and I can pretend for a little while that everything is okay.
I’ve been trying to upload pictures of a card I made yesterday but my computer is not cooperating, so I will share with you another dragon card that I made the other day.
Its from the same stamp set called Magical Friends by MFT. This one features a little girl flying through the clouds with her dragon friend.
With this one I used a stencil to create the circle in the middle of the card. I then used a cloud edge stencil to created the clouds. I used distress oxide inks in broken china for that. The images were stamped, colored with alcohol markers and then I cut them out before placing them on the card.
