Good morning

It’s a cold morning. We had a cold front come through yesterday and the temperatures dropped by about 30 degrees. It was getting quite warm so it’s nice to have a break. We are remodeling our home so yesterday the new kitchen cabinets were delivered and my husband had to get them in the house fast, in between rain showers, so they didn’t get wet. Not an easy feat since there was 1700lbs on the pallets!!! He did it but was pretty exhausted last night…and his back isn’t too happy. He does have a moving dolly which helps but it was still a huge job.

I’ve been back in the craft room a little more. I’ve been making some cards and also working on some wood projects. Here’s one of the cards I made…

Every time I make a card with a train I think of my youngest brother! Growing up in Scotland, we rode trains a lot. Now that I live in Utah, I haven’t been in a train in years. My brother loves trains. He loved them as a child and still loves them. I’m not sure exactly what he does but he takes miniature model trains and fixes them up and makes them more realistic I think. He travels (pre-covid) to train shows etc. So anything to do with trains reminds me of him and this card was no exception.

This stamp is from http://whimsystamps.com . Don’t you love it? I love how large it is and how whimsical it is. It’s perfect for a slimline card, which is what I made.

I colored it with copic markers and attached it to a background that I had created with cloud and hill stencils from http://mftstamps.com .

I love the big sentiment that is included with the stamp set!

It was my birthday last week and I got crafty money!! So I bought a lot of new goodies that I will be using over the next little while. I told myself I was going on a crafty spending freeze…that didn’t last long at all!!

As always you can find my cards in my Etsy shop here: http://www.jasmineblossomcrafts.com

Have a wonderful weekend and see you next time.

Hello!

My daughter had surgery last week. She’s doing well now and we are hoping that the surgery will fix the issues she has had. She is hoping to head back to California as soon as she can. There’s been a lot of stress, naturally. That means that in addition taking care of my daughter, my body has to react to the stress. So I’ve been dealing with all kinds of issues which has slowed me down quite a bit this week. I get so frustrated when I can’t do the things I need or want to do. Do any of you deal with health issues that slow you down? I feel so useless sometimes.

I haven’t been able to get into the craft room much but here’s a card I managed to squeeze in.

This was pretty easy as I was just using some paper elements from Hunkydory.

All of it is just made from layering their beautiful papers.

If you look closely you can see that I have layered certain areas of the card to give it dimension. This is a Hunkydory decolarge kit which provides all of these pieces which makes it so easy to put a card together.

I also love the foiling on their papers. If you are new to cardmaking, this is a great way to start. I got my kit at http://www.paperwishes.com

I love the flowers and springtime feel in this card. For Mother’s Day I usually get some flowers to plant so I’ve been filling my planters here and there when I feel up to it. I love to look out and see beautiful flowers. They make me happy

I hope this post finds you well. I’d love to hear about how you handle chronic health issues and the anxiety that goes along with it, if that something you deal with. I’d love to hear from you in general so send me a message!

Who doesn’t love gnomes?!

I wanted to make a cheerful card yesterday, there’s been so much stress going on. I chose this gnome from a set from MFT. He makes me smile.

I chose a frame die that I have as the focal point and cut that from white cardstock.

I stamped and colored the gnome and the other images. I used copic markers for the coloring.

For the background I chose some rainbow stripes from a paper pack from Photoplay.

I adhered everything together and I was happy with the final result. Bright and cheery…that’s what I was going for.

I hope you are having a good day! See you next time.

Crazy times…

Its been another busy, hectic, stressful few weeks. My daughter, who left for California, had to return home due to some medical issues. She is facing probable surgery and recovery time before she can return. Thanks to the stress of all of that, my afib has been in full force and my kidney stone decided to act up the other day also!

The good news is that it is a beautiful sunny day today and I am in my craft room. I’ve made a few cards this week and this is one of them…

I used the stamp set “Polynesian Paradise” from myfavoritethings.com .

For the background I used distress oxide inks and an oval stencil. I used 3 colors – kitsch flamingo, squeezed lemonade and spice marmalade.

I stamped the images and cut them out with my scan n cut and then colored them with copic markers. I attached them to the card and then stamped the sentiment “Hello, Sunshine”.

All being well I hope to be back soon with another card. I hope this finds you all well.

As always, you can find my cards in my shop: http://www.jasmineblossomcrafts.etsy.com .

See you next time!

I’m still here!!

Its been a crazy time lately. Lots of changes have been happening, including sending my youngest daughter off to California for 18 months. My oldest daughter is now renting our basement apartment so we have been helping her set that up. We are also beginning to remodel the main floor of our home so chaos is the best way to describe things! So I haven’t had a lot of energy left over to post on my blog but I’m hoping to change that. I’ve still been making cards and listing them in my Etsy shop, but just haven’t posted any.

Here’s a couple of cute new baby cards I made yesterday.

For a baby girl
For a baby boy

The pictures aren’t great due to the gloominess of the weather outside! Its actually snowing outside today! Ahh…springtime in Utah!

The cards were very simple to make. I chose some patterned paper to use for the stroller and also for the background.

I embossed some white cardstock with dots to give some texture to the cards. I love embossing folders, they add so much interest to a card.

I added a bow to the stroller and also some enamel dots to the wheels. For the sentiment I stamped a simple “Congratulations” and finished it off with an enamel heart.

You can find these cards and more at my etsy shop here: http://jasmineblossomcrafts.etsy.com

Thanks so much for stopping by and I will be posting much more regularly, I promise!

St. Patrick’s Day card

It won’t be long until St. Patrick’s Day is here. It’s not a huge card giving day but since so many of us aren’t out and about visiting people like we used to, sending a card is a great way to keep in touch.

My mother was born and raised in Ireland and I remember going over to Ireland as a child to visit my Grandma. My mum moved from Ireland to Scotland when she married my dad, but every St. Patrick’s Day her brother would send her a package containing a bunch of things from home.

For my family, we always have corned beef hash on St. Patrick’s Day and I always think of my mum.

This is a cute slimline St. Patrick’s Day card that I made yesterday.

I used a stamp set from Pretty Pink Posh, a slimline die from Whimsy stamps and some paper from Photoplay.

I stamped the images and colored them with copic markers. I used some distress oxide inks to add some shading to the edges of the white paper.

I layered the papers and propped up the center panel with some foam tape.

I adhered everything to a white card base.

Thanks for stopping by! See you soon.

Lots going on…

The moon last night. It was much more impressing than this it this was the best my phone camera could do!!

It’s been quite a while since I’ve written here, sorry about that. There’s been so much going on I our lives that I just didn’t have the motivation. I will try to do better.

My oldest daughter changed jobs so now she’s working from home. So we had to get an office ready for her. My youngest daughter is leaving for 18 months so we’ve had lots to do to get her ready. Then throw in the usual health issues and also some kidney stones…it’s been a lot!

I’ve still been making cards so I do have a few to share. Yesterday I got some stamps from a company that was new to me so I’ll share one of the cards I made with one of their stamps.

I love sunflowers so I had to get this stamp. It was a very simple card to make.

For the background I created some clouds with a cloud stencil and some blue distress oxide inks.

I then used some copic markers to color the flowers. Three shades of yellow, three shades of green and two shades of brown. It really didn’t take very long.

The stamp set come with 2 sentiments so I chose “You are my sunshine”. I used to sing that song to my girls when they were little.

I matted the card in black cardstock and adhered everything to a white card base and the card was done!

I hope all is well with you. I will try very hard to post more often now that things are settling down for us.

Busy, busy…

How are you? We have been enjoying unseasonably mild weather for January, but it looks like all of that is going to change this weekend with snow on the way.

I’ve been so busy with my Etsy shop, mostly with paper hearts. Lots and lots of people have been ordering, which is great, but I haven’t had much time to create anything new! So last night I was determined to create something with some of the new stamps I got a few weeks ago.

This is one of the cards…

I love this little puppy. It’s a stamp set by Penny Black called “Happy Heart Day”.

I stamped and colored the image on some white cardstock. I used a die set from MFT stamps called stitched mod rectangle stax die-namics. I then layered it with some patterned paper.

I used some adhesive foam to add some dimension to the layers.

So that’s it for today. I hope to be able to have the time to share some more cards soon.

Happy New Year!

I’ve been horrible at updating my blog lately so I’m hoping that now that the holidays have passed, I can get into a better routine.

How were your holidays? We had a very quiet, but nice time. I’ve been trying to get into my craft room to make a card at least once a day.

The one I’m going to share today is a birthday card.

For this one I used a candle die set from Elizabeth Craft Designs. I chose to make the card very colorful so I cut the candles from rainbow colors and layered those over white cardstock.

For the background I used some rainbow diagonal striped patterned paper on the top and I embossed some white cardstock with stars for the bottom.

I matted it with navy cardstock and adhered it to white card base.

Where does the time go?

I knew it had been a while since I had posted, but didn’t realize how long it had been. We’ve had a lot going on health-wise in our family but I think we are back on track. One of my daughters and I suffer from chronic health issues and once in a while they flare up.

I hope that for those of you that celebrate, that you had a nice Thanksgiving. Ours was very nice but very quiet with just the four of us. I actually prefer that in some ways. Much less pressure!

I’ve been making lots of card in between everything that’s going on. Mostly Christmas cards. Today I’m sharing a shaker card that I made yesterday.

I die cut the window in the cars front and then added some acetate. I then covered the back with a double row of foam tape.

I added some snowflake and sequin embellishments and then covered the window with snowflake paper.

The snowman die is from Cottagw Cutz and it’s one of my favorites this year. I die cut him in white and then used alcohol markers to color his hat, scarf, nose and buttons.

I used a white gel pen to add dots and stripes to his hat and scarf and also added some highlights to his buttons and eyes.

I stamped the sentiment and adhered the snowman and then added everything to a light blue card base.
