Its funny to be making fall, Halloween, Thanksgiving and Christmas cards when its still so hot outside but as a card maker I have to think ahead. This card is for Thanksgiving and I love how colorful it is.
I stamped the image and did some basic copic coloring. No shading other than a tiny bit on the turkey. I used a few different fall colors and I really like how it turned out.
For the background I used two different patterned papers and then just adhered the image on top using some craft foam to give it dimension. I added a few little fall colored gems and thats it. Quite quick and simple.
Its funny to be thinking about fall/autumn as we are still hovering around 100 degrees here in Northern Utah! I love fall but I don’t like the fact that it means winter is just around the corner. So I always leave summer behind with mixed feelings.
This card was made using a stamp set from Taylored Expressions called “cutting edge”.
I stamped the image and colored it with copic markers. I then used the coordinating dies to cut the image out, leaving quite a bit of white space at the bottom. I layered it with some fall colored patterned paper.
I then stamped the sentiment “autumn wishes”, from the same stamp set, in the bottom right corner. I added some tiny images from the stamp set around the sentiment, along with some fall colored gems. I then matted it with black cardstock and added it to a white card base.
I hope those of you celebrating Fathers Day have a wonderful time. My husband is taking a well deserved break from work today and we will be having a barbecue tonight. I really appreciate how hard he works and looks after our family. I’m also thinking of my dad today. He has been gone for a long time. He was a good man and I still miss him.
Today I am sharing a card that I made using a new stamp set from MFT called “Best Fins”. There are so many cute images in this set that I decided to make a slimline card so I would have the room to use more of the images.
First of all I stamped my images and then colored them with copic markers. I then cut them out with the matching dies. I used a die from Trinity stamps for the front window and then I used distress oxide inks to color it. I splashed it with water and also some perfect pearls for some shine. I used foam tape behind the window panel to give it some dimension and then I framed it out in some navy cardstock.
For the background paper I used some from Mermaid tales by Echo Park. I framed it with navy cardstock. For the background of the “windows”, I used an embossing folder from Echo Park and shaded the edges with some faded jeans distress oxide ink.
I stamped the sentiment “Sending oceans of love” with Simon Says Stamp soft navy ink and then I glued all of the images onto the card.
Here are some links to some of the products I used for this card.
I still haven’t been feeling the greatest but I was determined to work on something, so I made a couple of quick cards with the new stamp sets I got from Gerda Steiner Designs. The first card is made with the chicken scratch stamp set.
I stamped the images and then colored them with alcohol markers. I used a cloud edge stencil and distress oxide inks for the background and added some grass. I got a few ink spots on the card so I added some sequins to hide them.
For the 2nd card I used the Lovely Panda stamp set.
I stamped the image and sentiment on a Polaroid shaker frame die from MFT. I layered some cute papers and then used some adhesive foam to add some dimension to the image.
I’m hoping to work on more cards tomorrow. I’ve kind of lost my creative bug over the last few days but I’m hoping for improvement tomorrow!
We are having another beautiful day today. I pulled out my patio set on the deck and its been nice to sit out in the sun, even though its not super warm yet. The trees are starting to bloom and the birds are chirping so loudly! Even our resident woodpecker is back, pecking holes in the beams on our deck! We’ve had ducks in our yard and the snakes have even been seen a couple of times, though its still kind of cold for them. We have a canal that runs behind our yard and so we get lots of ducks and birds that like to be around there. There is also a walking trail along side the canal so we see people jogging or walking frequently. Our little dog likes to run from one side of the yard to the other, checking everyone out.
So Mother’s Day is coming up next month. I decided its time to work on some cards for my shop. I found a few cute digital stamps on Etsy that I will be using over the next few days.
This one is adorable. A little girl holding a bouquet of flowers for her mom.
I downloaded the stamp and printed it out on some Neenah bright white 65lb cardstock. I just use my inkjet printer and I haven’t had any issues using alcohol markers with the ink or the paper. I colored the image with alcohol markers and then stamped the sentiment in the top left corner. I die cut the image and then used some adhesive backed foam sheets to give it some dimension. For the backing I used some paper from Bo Bunny and framed that with some purple cardstock. I added a paper doily to add some interest. I used some distress oxide ink to shade the panel the image is on and adhered all of it together. I then added a couple of enamel hearts from Doodle Bug.
I’ve been busy the last couple of days with lots of ideas for cards and so thats been fun. Somtimes its hard to come up with new ideas and sometimes its much easier.
Yesterday I made a card to send to someone you are missing due to social distancing. I love how it turned out and it was nice to use a stamp set I had had for a long time and never used.
Here is the card:
I started by stamping the images and then I covered them in a mask while I stamped the brick background. I then removed the masks and colored the images with alcohol markers. I then stamped “miss you” and the drew the 6ft line.
Some of the materials I used are listed below. Unfortunately I think the stamp set has been discontinued.
We woke up to snow this morning! Its turned to rain now but we are supposed to get more snow overnight. Thankfully these spring snow storms usually melt off quickly. Despite the rain, I can see people out walking their dogs in the park. I’ve been watching Netflix this morning, curled up in a blanket, with my dog in my lap. Nice and cozy!
Last night, I managed to put a card together. Its very simple and everything I used has been in my stash for a long time. Here it is:
The stamp is by Trinity stamps and I think it was from a monthly kit by Scrapping For Less. I think it may have been an exclusive as I can’t find it on the website. The embossing folder is by Sizzix and has been discontinued. I stamped the flower and then colored it with alcohol markers. Then I fussy cut it out. I embossed the background using Neenah Solar White Classic Crest 80lb cardstock. I wrapped a green sheer ribbon around it and layered some yellow cardstock around it. I adhered the flower with Scotch 3M foam tape and put it all on an A2 cardbase which was made using Recollections heavy weight white cardstock. Thats it. Very simple.
I hope you are staying well and safe. See you next time!
Today has been one of those days where I haven’t have much energy to do anything. Its been raining on and off and it looks like we may get some snow over the next couple of days! I’ve been in my craft room all afternoon and haven’t yet been able to create a card! So I will share an Easter card I made a little while ago with you. Hopefully tomorrow I will have more energy and some ideas so I can make some new cards!
The stamp I used for this card is by Darcie Heater, another of my favorite companies. I stamped the dog and colored it with alcohol markers. I used some patterned paper I had in my stash and cut it at a diagonal. I used some foam sheets to add some dimension and then stamped the sentiment. I also gave the puppy some dimension with 3M foam tape and it was done. Its a very simple card.
We are starting to relax after the earthquake the other day. We have had hundreds of aftershocks but I haven’t felt any, thankfully. So life is starting to get back to normal, or as normal as it can be right now.
So I spent some time in my craft room and today I want to share a slimline card with you.
I used one of the cute new stamp sets from MFT stamps called Flower Fairies. They are such sweet images.
I stamped the images on Neenah Solar white Classic Crest 80lb cardstock with Memento Tuxedo black ink. I colored them with a mixture of copic and spectrum noir alcohol markers and cut them out with the coordinating dies. For the background I used Strathmore Bristol Smooth and then used distress oxide inks in tumbled glass for the sky and shabby shutters for the grass. I also used the MFT mini cloud edge stencil for the clouds. I sprinkled some water on the background to activate the inks and also sprinkled some perfect pearls to add some shimmer. The card base is made from Recollections white 110lb heavy weight cardstock.
I added shimmer to the wings and hearts of the fairies using clear wink of stella and added some clear sequins to finish things off. I used the sentiment from the stamp set “Sending a sprinkle of love to brighten your day”.
Hello! My name is Mary and I have created this blog in order to share some of the cards I make as well as some of the goings on in my life!
Today the clocks went forward and I am already feeling the effect! It usually takes me about two weeks to get used to the new time. I am looking forward to more daylight and I’m really excited about spring and the prospect of more consistent good weather.
I’ve been making a lot of Easter cards lately. There are so many cute stamps and papers out there. I really need to make a budget for myself as I tend to go a little crazy with spending at times. Too many cute choices!
So today I’d like to feature a slimline Easter card that I have made using Doodlebug stamps.
I like to make my slimline cards a little bigger than others I have seen so that they fit a #10 envelope better. So this card measures 9.25″x 4″. I used Recollections white 110lb paper for my cardbase. I really enjoy this paper as its sturdy enough for card bases but I can also stamp and use alcohol markers on it without any issues.
I cut the frame for the card with the Slimline Postage stamp die from whimsystamps.com . I used distress oxides in shaded lilac and tumbled glass along with the mini cloud edges stencil by MFT to create the clouds.
The stamp set is by Doodlebug and it is called Hoppy Easter. They were stamped on Neenah classic crest solar white 80lb paper with Memento Tuxedo black ink and colored with a mixture of copic markers and Spectrum Noir alcohol makers.
I fussy cut the images and adhered them to the card with Art Glitter glue. I used some patterned paper from Bella Blvd sweet sweet spring collection for the background. Added some doodlebug enamel hearts and it was done! I really like how it turned out. I like using a mixture of patterned paper and stamps for my cards.
I will be back in a day or two with another card! See you then.
