Where does the time go?

I knew it had been a while since I had posted, but didn’t realize how long it had been. We’ve had a lot going on health-wise in our family but I think we are back on track. One of my daughters and I suffer from chronic health issues and once in a while they flare up.

I hope that for those of you that celebrate, that you had a nice Thanksgiving. Ours was very nice but very quiet with just the four of us. I actually prefer that in some ways. Much less pressure!

I’ve been making lots of card in between everything that’s going on. Mostly Christmas cards. Today I’m sharing a shaker card that I made yesterday.

I die cut the window in the cars front and then added some acetate. I then covered the back with a double row of foam tape.

I added some snowflake and sequin embellishments and then covered the window with snowflake paper.

The snowman die is from Cottagw Cutz and it’s one of my favorites this year. I die cut him in white and then used alcohol markers to color his hat, scarf, nose and buttons.

I used a white gel pen to add dots and stripes to his hat and scarf and also added some highlights to his buttons and eyes.

I stamped the sentiment and adhered the snowman and then added everything to a light blue card base.

Snowy Day

We’ve had snow showers in and off all day. Thankfully it’s not sticking to the ground but it’s definitely a reminder that winter is just around the corner.

The card I’m going to share today fits in with the snow theme.

I got the semi circle stitched dies from Sunny Studio Stamos and I love it…I’m sure you will see lots of cards using this die in the future! I combined it with the Snow Buddies stamp set from MFT Stamps.

I used the die to cut some white paper. For the middle piece of the die I used distress oxide inks and then splattered it with some water and then some perfect pearls to give it some texture and a little bit of shimmer.

I stamped the images and colored them with copic markers. I then cut them with my scan n cut.

For the front of the card, I stamped some snowflakes with versamark ink Alan’s heat embossed it with clear embossing powder for a subtle effect. It’s hard to see in the pictures.

I added some foam tape to the back of the white panel and added it to some navy card-stock. I then adhered it to a white card base. I inserted the blue background and used some liquid glue to secure it and then used the same liquid glue to add the images. I then stamped the sentiment on navy card stock and heat embossed it with white embossing powder.

I love this stamp set and and I love this die, so I’m thrilled with how the card came out.

Winter card

We have warmed up a lot here in Utah but it looks like winter will arrive on the weekend so I doubt we will see these nice temperatures for a while.

I am enjoying making Winter and Christmas cards but I’m trying to squeeze in other types of cards too…though not today!! This one is a winter themed card using a new stamp from MFT stamps.

This little girl is so cute! She’s all dressed up for winter. I added the birds from another stamp set from MFT to help tie in with the sentiment.

I stamped and cut the images and then colored them with copic markers. The warm grays have become some of my favorites to use.

I used some snowflake patterned paper for the background and then die cut some snow banks. I layered everything together and then added some sticklers to the hats and the snow banks.

For the sentiment I stamped “Friends warm the coldest of days” and I matted the panel with some black cardstock. I love matting in black as it adds quite a pop to the card.

That’s it for today! See you next time.

Cute penguins and knitting!

Growing up in Scotland, we were taught to knit at a very young age. I remember being taught to knit a pair of slippers in elementary school. I love to knit. It’s something I’ve done for almost my entire life. I don’t do it as much now as I spend so much time making cards and cross stitching, but every once in a while I pull out my knitting needles.

So this image of cute penguins knitting a scarf caught my attention.

I think they are adorable! I started with a stamp from stamping Bella. I colored it with copic markers.

The sentiment is included with the stamp set…Knitting you a Merry Christmas. So cute.

I matted it in red and adhered it to a white card base. It’s a very simple card but those little penguins just make me smile!

Christmas Village card

Today I’m sharing a card I made with Newton’s Nook Main Street Christmas stamp set.

For this card I used some Hero Art’s reactive ink for the background and sprinkled some water on it to get the effect that I love.

I stamped the image and then colored it with copic markers. I wanted something really colorful, kind of like those beautiful Victorian homes that are painted in such lovely colors.

I used the matching dies to cut out the image and then adhere it to the background. I then stamped Santa and his sleigh and the sentiment with verse mark ink. I then embossed it with clear embossing powder.

I love this stamp. I really enjoyed coloring it.

That’s it for today. See you next time!

Birthday cards

A week or so ago we drove up into the mountains to see the fall leaves…unfortunately most of the leaves were gone already but it was so beautiful anyway. We even saw a little snow. Here’s some pictures:

Today I made a few birthday cards using a stamp set from Penny Black and some dies from MFT.

I handstamped the images and used my copic markers for coloring.

I cut the images out and layered them on some patterned paper.

I used the dies from MFT to create a nice edge and then stamped the sentiment. I finished off the cards by adding an enamel heart.

Which one is your favorite? I think I like the one with the little girl holding the balloons the best.

Halloween slimline card

Its finally cooled down a little for a few days but it’ll warm up again by the middle of the week. It really doesn’t feel like we are almost in October but Im still enjoying making Halloween cards. This one is a slimline card.

As always, I stamped my images and then cut them with the coordinating dies. I don’t always have the matching dies as sometimes I can’t afford to buy them. In that case I just fussy cut the images, something I don’t like to do but I do it anyway to get the effect I’m looking for. This time I was happy to have the matching dies.

After cutting the images I colored them with copic markers. I don’t have a big selection of markers but thats okay, I am usually able to make it work.

I used Whimsy stamps Slimline Marquee die for the top layer. I cut some Halloween cardstock and then used foam tape to give it some dimension. I used Trinity stamps Stitched card panels and windows for the next layer which I cut from some starry night cardstock and then for the last layer I used some bat cardstock and cut it so I left a 1/8th of an inch border around the card base.

I then added the sentiment “Happy Halloween to finish it off. I love slimline cards, it gives you so much more space to work with.

I hope this finds you well. See you next time!

Thanksgiving?

Its funny to be making fall, Halloween, Thanksgiving and Christmas cards when its still so hot outside but as a card maker I have to think ahead. This card is for Thanksgiving and I love how colorful it is.

I stamped the image and did some basic copic coloring. No shading other than a tiny bit on the turkey. I used a few different fall colors and I really like how it turned out.

For the background I used two different patterned papers and then just adhered the image on top using some craft foam to give it dimension. I added a few little fall colored gems and thats it. Quite quick and simple.

Autumn Wishes!

Its funny to be thinking about fall/autumn as we are still hovering around 100 degrees here in Northern Utah! I love fall but I don’t like the fact that it means winter is just around the corner. So I always leave summer behind with mixed feelings.

This card was made using a stamp set from Taylored Expressions called “cutting edge”.

I stamped the image and colored it with copic markers. I then used the coordinating dies to cut the image out, leaving quite a bit of white space at the bottom. I layered it with some fall colored patterned paper.

I then stamped the sentiment “autumn wishes”, from the same stamp set, in the bottom right corner. I added some tiny images from the stamp set around the sentiment, along with some fall colored gems. I then matted it with black cardstock and added it to a white card base.

Happy Fathers Day!

I hope those of you celebrating Fathers Day have a wonderful time. My husband is taking a well deserved break from work today and we will be having a barbecue tonight. I really appreciate how hard he works and looks after our family. I’m also thinking of my dad today. He has been gone for a long time. He was a good man and I still miss him.

Today I am sharing a card that I made using a new stamp set from MFT called “Best Fins”. There are so many cute images in this set that I decided to make a slimline card so I would have the room to use more of the images.

First of all I stamped my images and then colored them with copic markers. I then cut them out with the matching dies. I used a die from Trinity stamps for the front window and then I used distress oxide inks to color it. I splashed it with water and also some perfect pearls for some shine. I used foam tape behind the window panel to give it some dimension and then I framed it out in some navy cardstock.

For the background paper I used some from Mermaid tales by Echo Park. I framed it with navy cardstock. For the background of the “windows”, I used an embossing folder from Echo Park and shaded the edges with some faded jeans distress oxide ink.

I stamped the sentiment “Sending oceans of love” with Simon Says Stamp soft navy ink and then I glued all of the images onto the card.

Here are some links to some of the products I used for this card.
