Hello

Hello everyone. How are you enjoying your summer? It’s been so hot here in Utah with record breaking heat. I have to say I’m looking forward to fall and cooler temperatures!

We had a few days away in Colorado which was really fun…until we were almost home and our truck broke down 30 minutes from home! We managed to crawl to our mechanic and we are waiting on the news of what is wrong. Hopefully nothing super expensive! The truck is only a few years old so it’s frustrating. It seems we can’t have a trip without something happening lately.

Colorado was beautiful. We stayed in Montrose and visited the Victorian mining towns of Ouray, Telluride and Silverton. we did some shopping, rode in a stagecoach and enjoyed the beautiful scenery.

Telluride
Silverton
They call this part of Colorado the Switzerland of America. I think you can see why!

Yesterday was the first day I managed to get into my craft room and this is the card I made.

It turned out quite different from how I had planned it. I had an ink blended background which I ended up smudging once I had stamped the sentiment on it. So I went with patterned paper instead.

This stamp set is from My Favorite Things and I think it’s so cute…especially the chicken and the cow being carried away with their balloons!

I stamped the images and colored them with copic markers. I then used a slimline die from Trinity Stamps and cut some patterned paper and layered that with foam to add some dimension.

For the insides of the squares I ink blended some clouds and grass and added some splatters. I adhered all the images and layered more patterned paper.

I added everything to a 9” x 4” white card base and the card was complete! Some cards come together really quickly and others, like this one, give you a lot of trouble. In the end I like how it turned out.

I hope all is well with you. See you next time!

Good morning

It’s a cold morning. We had a cold front come through yesterday and the temperatures dropped by about 30 degrees. It was getting quite warm so it’s nice to have a break. We are remodeling our home so yesterday the new kitchen cabinets were delivered and my husband had to get them in the house fast, in between rain showers, so they didn’t get wet. Not an easy feat since there was 1700lbs on the pallets!!! He did it but was pretty exhausted last night…and his back isn’t too happy. He does have a moving dolly which helps but it was still a huge job.

I’ve been back in the craft room a little more. I’ve been making some cards and also working on some wood projects. Here’s one of the cards I made…

Every time I make a card with a train I think of my youngest brother! Growing up in Scotland, we rode trains a lot. Now that I live in Utah, I haven’t been in a train in years. My brother loves trains. He loved them as a child and still loves them. I’m not sure exactly what he does but he takes miniature model trains and fixes them up and makes them more realistic I think. He travels (pre-covid) to train shows etc. So anything to do with trains reminds me of him and this card was no exception.

This stamp is from http://whimsystamps.com . Don’t you love it? I love how large it is and how whimsical it is. It’s perfect for a slimline card, which is what I made.

I colored it with copic markers and attached it to a background that I had created with cloud and hill stencils from http://mftstamps.com .

I love the big sentiment that is included with the stamp set!

It was my birthday last week and I got crafty money!! So I bought a lot of new goodies that I will be using over the next little while. I told myself I was going on a crafty spending freeze…that didn’t last long at all!!

As always you can find my cards in my Etsy shop here: http://www.jasmineblossomcrafts.com

Have a wonderful weekend and see you next time.

Who doesn’t love gnomes?!

I wanted to make a cheerful card yesterday, there’s been so much stress going on. I chose this gnome from a set from MFT. He makes me smile.

I chose a frame die that I have as the focal point and cut that from white cardstock.

I stamped and colored the gnome and the other images. I used copic markers for the coloring.

For the background I chose some rainbow stripes from a paper pack from Photoplay.

I adhered everything together and I was happy with the final result. Bright and cheery…that’s what I was going for.

I hope you are having a good day! See you next time.

St. Patrick’s Day card

It won’t be long until St. Patrick’s Day is here. It’s not a huge card giving day but since so many of us aren’t out and about visiting people like we used to, sending a card is a great way to keep in touch.

My mother was born and raised in Ireland and I remember going over to Ireland as a child to visit my Grandma. My mum moved from Ireland to Scotland when she married my dad, but every St. Patrick’s Day her brother would send her a package containing a bunch of things from home.

For my family, we always have corned beef hash on St. Patrick’s Day and I always think of my mum.

This is a cute slimline St. Patrick’s Day card that I made yesterday.

I used a stamp set from Pretty Pink Posh, a slimline die from Whimsy stamps and some paper from Photoplay.

I stamped the images and colored them with copic markers. I used some distress oxide inks to add some shading to the edges of the white paper.

I layered the papers and propped up the center panel with some foam tape.

I adhered everything to a white card base.

Thanks for stopping by! See you soon.

Christmas and mermaids and stuff!!

It’s hard to believe that Christmas is less than two weeks away! I am not ready. I haven’t finished my shopping and I haven’t even felt like it’s the Christmas season this year. We’ve been watching Christmas movies and listening to Christmas music but it all just feels weird this year. I know it will all fall into place and we will have a nice Christmas, but this whole years has just been strange!

We decorated last week and this year we just put up a small tree. We are remodeling and things are a mess. When we go our our yearly RV trips, I buy ornaments from the places we visit. I love to add them to the tree and it always brings up fun memories from our trips.

So, on to card making! I’m pretty much done with making Christmas cards so I’ve been moving on and playing with a few new stamps sets that I haven’t been able to use yet. This set is from mft stamps and it’s been out for a while, but I just picked it up recently.

For the front panel, I used a bubble background stamp from Hero Arts. I then die cut out a circle and added a frame.

For the background I used some ocean themed paper that I had in my stash and then I die cut some white card stock with a die I have that looks like fish scales and I layered that on top. I then adhered that to the front panel.

I stamped the images and colored them with copic markers and then glued them into the circle.

For the sentiment I stamped “You are mermazing” and propped that up on some foam strips. I added a little heart and then matted everything in navy card stock. I adhered it to a white card base.

I think it turned out cute and it’s a nice change from Christmas cards!

I hope you are staying well. See you next time!

Snowy Day

We’ve had snow showers in and off all day. Thankfully it’s not sticking to the ground but it’s definitely a reminder that winter is just around the corner.

The card I’m going to share today fits in with the snow theme.

I got the semi circle stitched dies from Sunny Studio Stamos and I love it…I’m sure you will see lots of cards using this die in the future! I combined it with the Snow Buddies stamp set from MFT Stamps.

I used the die to cut some white paper. For the middle piece of the die I used distress oxide inks and then splattered it with some water and then some perfect pearls to give it some texture and a little bit of shimmer.

I stamped the images and colored them with copic markers. I then cut them with my scan n cut.

For the front of the card, I stamped some snowflakes with versamark ink Alan’s heat embossed it with clear embossing powder for a subtle effect. It’s hard to see in the pictures.

I added some foam tape to the back of the white panel and added it to some navy card-stock. I then adhered it to a white card base. I inserted the blue background and used some liquid glue to secure it and then used the same liquid glue to add the images. I then stamped the sentiment on navy card stock and heat embossed it with white embossing powder.

I love this stamp set and and I love this die, so I’m thrilled with how the card came out.

Winter card

We have warmed up a lot here in Utah but it looks like winter will arrive on the weekend so I doubt we will see these nice temperatures for a while.

I am enjoying making Winter and Christmas cards but I’m trying to squeeze in other types of cards too…though not today!! This one is a winter themed card using a new stamp from MFT stamps.

This little girl is so cute! She’s all dressed up for winter. I added the birds from another stamp set from MFT to help tie in with the sentiment.

I stamped and cut the images and then colored them with copic markers. The warm grays have become some of my favorites to use.

I used some snowflake patterned paper for the background and then die cut some snow banks. I layered everything together and then added some sticklers to the hats and the snow banks.

For the sentiment I stamped “Friends warm the coldest of days” and I matted the panel with some black cardstock. I love matting in black as it adds quite a pop to the card.

That’s it for today! See you next time.

Cute penguins and knitting!

Growing up in Scotland, we were taught to knit at a very young age. I remember being taught to knit a pair of slippers in elementary school. I love to knit. It’s something I’ve done for almost my entire life. I don’t do it as much now as I spend so much time making cards and cross stitching, but every once in a while I pull out my knitting needles.

So this image of cute penguins knitting a scarf caught my attention.

I think they are adorable! I started with a stamp from stamping Bella. I colored it with copic markers.

The sentiment is included with the stamp set…Knitting you a Merry Christmas. So cute.

I matted it in red and adhered it to a white card base. It’s a very simple card but those little penguins just make me smile!

Autumn Wishes!

Its funny to be thinking about fall/autumn as we are still hovering around 100 degrees here in Northern Utah! I love fall but I don’t like the fact that it means winter is just around the corner. So I always leave summer behind with mixed feelings.

This card was made using a stamp set from Taylored Expressions called “cutting edge”.

I stamped the image and colored it with copic markers. I then used the coordinating dies to cut the image out, leaving quite a bit of white space at the bottom. I layered it with some fall colored patterned paper.

I then stamped the sentiment “autumn wishes”, from the same stamp set, in the bottom right corner. I added some tiny images from the stamp set around the sentiment, along with some fall colored gems. I then matted it with black cardstock and added it to a white card base.

Sick dog and Halloween cards

Maggie wasn’t feeling good last week and her ears were bleeding. Initially we thought she had allergies and made her ears bleed by scratching them so much, but it turned out she had major infections in both ears. After a few hours at the vet’s office, she came home with lots of medication. Some of the medication is in her ears and it gradually disperses over time. Its made her pretty deaf so thats been interesting. She’s still not back to normal but she’s improving every day.

I’ve been having fun making some Halloween cards. This set was made with a stamp set from Taylored Expressions.

I stamped the images and colored them with copic markers. I then used the coordinating dies to cut them out.

I used some Halloween cardstock for the background and stamped and embossed the sentiment on a black strip of cardstock. I adhered everything to a grey cardbase.

I love how they turned out!

See you next time!
