Happy Fathers Day!

I hope those of you celebrating Fathers Day have a wonderful time. My husband is taking a well deserved break from work today and we will be having a barbecue tonight. I really appreciate how hard he works and looks after our family. I’m also thinking of my dad today. He has been gone for a long time. He was a good man and I still miss him.

Today I am sharing a card that I made using a new stamp set from MFT called “Best Fins”. There are so many cute images in this set that I decided to make a slimline card so I would have the room to use more of the images.

First of all I stamped my images and then colored them with copic markers. I then cut them out with the matching dies. I used a die from Trinity stamps for the front window and then I used distress oxide inks to color it. I splashed it with water and also some perfect pearls for some shine. I used foam tape behind the window panel to give it some dimension and then I framed it out in some navy cardstock.

For the background paper I used some from Mermaid tales by Echo Park. I framed it with navy cardstock. For the background of the “windows”, I used an embossing folder from Echo Park and shaded the edges with some faded jeans distress oxide ink.

I stamped the sentiment “Sending oceans of love” with Simon Says Stamp soft navy ink and then I glued all of the images onto the card.

Here are some links to some of the products I used for this card.

Butterflies

I love butterflies. We have had a swallow tail butterfly hanging around our yard for a little while. Some people believe that when a butterfly is near, a loved one from the other side is saying hello. Its nice to think that could be true.

Today I made a couple of cards featuring butterflies. Both of them were made in the same way although I made the backgrounds different.

For this one I stamped the butterflies and the sentiment in black versafine ink and then used clear emobossing powder and heat set it. Then I cut masks and covered the butterflies and then used a striped stencil and three shades of distress inks to create the background. I used Arteza real brush markers to color the butterflies. I then framed the main panel with black cardstock to make it pop and adhered it to a white card base.

This card was made the same way, just using a different sentiment and a different stencil. I used 3 shades of purple distress inks for the background.
