Despite all that is going on in the world and the challenges we all face in our daily lives, there are always things to be thankful for. This is something I have needed to be reminded of a lot lately as we are facing a lot of trials. So I made this simple card today.
I started with a white card base and then added a layer of kraft cardstock. I then embossed some white cardstock.
I cut out “thank you” in white card stock and then its shadow in kraft cardstock and layered those together.
I adhered everything together and that finished the card. I really like its simplicity and I love kraft and white together.
Today was another very busy day. We’ve decided since my daughter is only working one week and then off the next week (due to Covid-19) that its time to redo her room. So today we spent the afternoon going through a lot of her stuff and organizing. We will do some every day and then we will paint.
I didn’t have a lot of time to make cards but I did make a couple of simple ones that would be good for an anniversary, Valentine’s day or just a card to send to someone you love.
Here they are:
I used a heart embossing folder…not sure where I got it. The music notes embossing folder came from Park Lane Paperie. The dies came from Momenta and Sizzix. Basically I layered a deep red cardstock with white.
Its so fun to buy new things, especially when it comes to card making. There is always something new available and its hard to resist. With things being so uncertain, I’ve been trying to use what I already have…some of which I haven’t even opened before! So this card is made using things I already had in my craft room.
I don’t know if you have a Tuesday Morning where you live, but in their craft section, you can buy stamps, dies, papers and so much more for a fraction of what you would normally pay. When I first discovered this, I went a bit crazy and bought a lot. They have a lot of stamps from “Bo Bunny” for very little and so I have a basket full of their stamps. All of which I hadn’t even opened…until today! I don’t love their stamps, they are acrylic and don’t stamp easily, but I made it work and they have great images so its worth persevering.
So this is a Mother’s Day card.
I stamped the images using the rose garden stamp set from Bo Bunny and colored them with copic markers. Then I fussy cut them out leaving a small white border. I embossed a panel of white cardstock (Neenah Classic Crest Solar White 80lb) with a Darice damask embossing folder. The sentiment is from a stamp set called “momanddad2love” from Stamps of life. I adhered the embossed panel to some red cardstock and then glued all the flowers and leaves to the lower right corner of the card. I did prop up the largest rose with some dimensional foam tape. I stamped the sentiment with memento tuxedo black ink and fussy cut around it, adding a frame of the same red paper.
We woke up to snow this morning! Its turned to rain now but we are supposed to get more snow overnight. Thankfully these spring snow storms usually melt off quickly. Despite the rain, I can see people out walking their dogs in the park. I’ve been watching Netflix this morning, curled up in a blanket, with my dog in my lap. Nice and cozy!
Last night, I managed to put a card together. Its very simple and everything I used has been in my stash for a long time. Here it is:
The stamp is by Trinity stamps and I think it was from a monthly kit by Scrapping For Less. I think it may have been an exclusive as I can’t find it on the website. The embossing folder is by Sizzix and has been discontinued. I stamped the flower and then colored it with alcohol markers. Then I fussy cut it out. I embossed the background using Neenah Solar White Classic Crest 80lb cardstock. I wrapped a green sheer ribbon around it and layered some yellow cardstock around it. I adhered the flower with Scotch 3M foam tape and put it all on an A2 cardbase which was made using Recollections heavy weight white cardstock. Thats it. Very simple.
I hope you are staying well and safe. See you next time!
Its a beautiful, sunny day here in Utah today. Looking out you would never think there was anything scary going on in the world. This is such a scary time for everyone. It would be so easy to start stressing out but I’m trying to stay as calm as I can. Its so easy to get caught up in watching the news all day or being on social media, trying to keep track of everything thats going on but I’m trying (not always successfully) to give myself a break from it and do something I enjoy. Whether thats watching a movie with the family or coming to my craft room to make a card!
Today I want to share a card I made using a new die from MFT. Its perfect for springtime!
This die is a new release from mft stamps called Planted Blooms Dienamics. I cut it using a bunch of different cardstock colors from recollections and then layered all of them together. I used a floral embossing folder called Cherry Blossoms by Darice. Then I stamped the sentiment on blue cardstock and also used the same cardstock to frame the embossed layer. Glued it all together and it was done. I love how fresh and colorful the flowers are.
