Winter card

We have warmed up a lot here in Utah but it looks like winter will arrive on the weekend so I doubt we will see these nice temperatures for a while.

I am enjoying making Winter and Christmas cards but I’m trying to squeeze in other types of cards too…though not today!! This one is a winter themed card using a new stamp from MFT stamps.

This little girl is so cute! She’s all dressed up for winter. I added the birds from another stamp set from MFT to help tie in with the sentiment.

I stamped and cut the images and then colored them with copic markers. The warm grays have become some of my favorites to use.

I used some snowflake patterned paper for the background and then die cut some snow banks. I layered everything together and then added some sticklers to the hats and the snow banks.

For the sentiment I stamped “Friends warm the coldest of days” and I matted the panel with some black cardstock. I love matting in black as it adds quite a pop to the card.

That’s it for today! See you next time.

Clean and simple cards

Today I decided to make a clean and simple card. I usually love to layer patterned paper but I wanted to challenge myself to do something a little more simple. I love how it turned out.

I used a die from Simon Says Stamp called “Sunflower Frame” and cut it from white cardstock 3 times. I then adhered those layers together. I then used some distress oxide inks and colored a piece of white cardstock and then cut the die again.

I used some patterned paper for the background and glued the flower on to that. Then I paper pieced the petals. I glued it on to a white panel and then on to a white cardbase. I was so tempted to add more patterned paper to the background but I liked how elegant it looked with just the white.

I stamped “Always here for you” on some black cardstock and heat embossed it with white embossing powder. I then adhered it to the card.

Some of the supplies I used for this card are listed here:

Rainy weekend

On Friday it was our first 100 degree day this year. By yesteday it was 45 degrees! Welcome to Utah!! Its still cold and cloudy today but it should be warming up again later in the week.

One of the best ways for me to spend a rainy afternoon is in my craftroom making a card. I didn’t really think about it when I chose which stamp set I was going to use, but I guess I was missing the sunshine!

This card was made using the “Every day is a picnic” stamp set from MFT. I also used their “Spring Whimsy” 6×6 paper pad.

I started by stamping the images on Neenah 80lb cardstock and colored them with copic markers. I cut the images with the coordinating dies. I then cut a heart using recollections heart die set. I also cut a 2″ strip of white cardstock and stamped the sentiment on that.

I then layered the papers and sentiment strip and then adhered the images using art glitter glue. I glued it all to an A2 sized card base and we were done.

Here is a list of some of the items I used in making this card.

A couple of quick cards

I still haven’t been feeling the greatest but I was determined to work on something, so I made a couple of quick cards with the new stamp sets I got from Gerda Steiner Designs. The first card is made with the chicken scratch stamp set.

I stamped the images and then colored them with alcohol markers. I used a cloud edge stencil and distress oxide inks for the background and added some grass. I got a few ink spots on the card so I added some sequins to hide them.

For the 2nd card I used the Lovely Panda stamp set.

I stamped the image and sentiment on a Polaroid shaker frame die from MFT. I layered some cute papers and then used some adhesive foam to add some dimension to the image.

I’m hoping to work on more cards tomorrow. I’ve kind of lost my creative bug over the last few days but I’m hoping for improvement tomorrow!

Creative juices flowing!

I’ve been busy the last couple of days with lots of ideas for cards and so thats been fun.  Somtimes its hard to come up with new ideas and sometimes its much easier.

Yesterday I made a card to send to someone you are missing due to social distancing.  I love how it turned out and it was nice to use a stamp set I had had for a long time and never used.

Here is the card:

I started by stamping the images and then I covered them in a mask while I stamped the brick background.  I then removed the masks and colored the images with alcohol markers.  I then stamped “miss you” and the drew the 6ft line.

Some of the materials I used are listed below. Unfortunately I think the stamp set has been discontinued.
