Hello

Hello everyone. How are you enjoying your summer? It’s been so hot here in Utah with record breaking heat. I have to say I’m looking forward to fall and cooler temperatures!

We had a few days away in Colorado which was really fun…until we were almost home and our truck broke down 30 minutes from home! We managed to crawl to our mechanic and we are waiting on the news of what is wrong. Hopefully nothing super expensive! The truck is only a few years old so it’s frustrating. It seems we can’t have a trip without something happening lately.

Colorado was beautiful. We stayed in Montrose and visited the Victorian mining towns of Ouray, Telluride and Silverton. we did some shopping, rode in a stagecoach and enjoyed the beautiful scenery.

Telluride
Silverton
They call this part of Colorado the Switzerland of America. I think you can see why!

Yesterday was the first day I managed to get into my craft room and this is the card I made.

It turned out quite different from how I had planned it. I had an ink blended background which I ended up smudging once I had stamped the sentiment on it. So I went with patterned paper instead.

This stamp set is from My Favorite Things and I think it’s so cute…especially the chicken and the cow being carried away with their balloons!

I stamped the images and colored them with copic markers. I then used a slimline die from Trinity Stamps and cut some patterned paper and layered that with foam to add some dimension.

For the insides of the squares I ink blended some clouds and grass and added some splatters. I adhered all the images and layered more patterned paper.

I added everything to a 9” x 4” white card base and the card was complete! Some cards come together really quickly and others, like this one, give you a lot of trouble. In the end I like how it turned out.

I hope all is well with you. See you next time!

How is your summer going?

I hope that your summer is going well. Since I am in the western United States, we are experiencing very hot temperatures and extreme drought conditions. I used to love summer but since the onset of hot flashes about 8 years ago, I find the heat harder to tolerate. So spring and fall are my favorite seasons now!! Maybe once (if ever!) the hot flashes go away, I will be able to enjoy summer again. I do love the sunny days and blue skies but I am very thankful for my air conditioner indoors!

It’s been a busy summer so far with lots of things going on. My youngest daughter came home from California and had her surgery and she’s feeling much better now, but has decided not to go back to California. She’s been job hunting and has ended up taking a job with the company she worked with before, just at a different location. She should start there soon, probably next week.

My oldest daughter changed jobs too and is now working for a different Credit Union. She’s enjoying it so far.

We took a weekend trip over memorial weekend which unfortunately was cut short due to me having kidney stone pain. This stone has been flaring up for 4 months and finally it passed. Hopefully I’ll be free of stones for a while! We saw some interesting things during the 24 hours we were away – the western Utah desert isn’t the most picturesque area, but it has a beauty of its own. Here’s a couple of pictures.

This is the remnants of an old fort.
An old hermits cave built into the mountain side.
So desolate.

Now onto card making! I’m still in my craft room as much as I can be. Today I’m sharing a very clean and simple card using a stamp by Art Impressions.

Basically I stamped the image and then colored it with alcohol markers. I then stamped the sentiment quite close to the image in black.

I matted it with a dark navy card-stock and adhered it to a white card base. Sometimes simple is good! These ladies make me laugh!

I’ve also been working on some wood projects and got started on Halloween!! These wooden blocks are perfect for tiered trays or can be tucked in with your other holiday decor on your shelves.

We hope to be heading out for a short trip to Colorado in a couple of weeks. Hopefully that will go smoothly! I hope you are having a wonderful summer. See you next time.

Good morning

It’s a cold morning. We had a cold front come through yesterday and the temperatures dropped by about 30 degrees. It was getting quite warm so it’s nice to have a break. We are remodeling our home so yesterday the new kitchen cabinets were delivered and my husband had to get them in the house fast, in between rain showers, so they didn’t get wet. Not an easy feat since there was 1700lbs on the pallets!!! He did it but was pretty exhausted last night…and his back isn’t too happy. He does have a moving dolly which helps but it was still a huge job.

I’ve been back in the craft room a little more. I’ve been making some cards and also working on some wood projects. Here’s one of the cards I made…

Every time I make a card with a train I think of my youngest brother! Growing up in Scotland, we rode trains a lot. Now that I live in Utah, I haven’t been in a train in years. My brother loves trains. He loved them as a child and still loves them. I’m not sure exactly what he does but he takes miniature model trains and fixes them up and makes them more realistic I think. He travels (pre-covid) to train shows etc. So anything to do with trains reminds me of him and this card was no exception.

This stamp is from http://whimsystamps.com . Don’t you love it? I love how large it is and how whimsical it is. It’s perfect for a slimline card, which is what I made.

I colored it with copic markers and attached it to a background that I had created with cloud and hill stencils from http://mftstamps.com .

I love the big sentiment that is included with the stamp set!

It was my birthday last week and I got crafty money!! So I bought a lot of new goodies that I will be using over the next little while. I told myself I was going on a crafty spending freeze…that didn’t last long at all!!

As always you can find my cards in my Etsy shop here: http://www.jasmineblossomcrafts.com

Have a wonderful weekend and see you next time.

Who doesn’t love gnomes?!

I wanted to make a cheerful card yesterday, there’s been so much stress going on. I chose this gnome from a set from MFT. He makes me smile.

I chose a frame die that I have as the focal point and cut that from white cardstock.

I stamped and colored the gnome and the other images. I used copic markers for the coloring.

For the background I chose some rainbow stripes from a paper pack from Photoplay.

I adhered everything together and I was happy with the final result. Bright and cheery…that’s what I was going for.

I hope you are having a good day! See you next time.

Crazy times…

Its been another busy, hectic, stressful few weeks. My daughter, who left for California, had to return home due to some medical issues. She is facing probable surgery and recovery time before she can return. Thanks to the stress of all of that, my afib has been in full force and my kidney stone decided to act up the other day also!

The good news is that it is a beautiful sunny day today and I am in my craft room. I’ve made a few cards this week and this is one of them…

I used the stamp set “Polynesian Paradise” from myfavoritethings.com .

For the background I used distress oxide inks and an oval stencil. I used 3 colors – kitsch flamingo, squeezed lemonade and spice marmalade.

I stamped the images and cut them out with my scan n cut and then colored them with copic markers. I attached them to the card and then stamped the sentiment “Hello, Sunshine”.

All being well I hope to be back soon with another card. I hope this finds you all well.

As always, you can find my cards in my shop: http://www.jasmineblossomcrafts.etsy.com .

See you next time!

St. Patrick’s Day card

It won’t be long until St. Patrick’s Day is here. It’s not a huge card giving day but since so many of us aren’t out and about visiting people like we used to, sending a card is a great way to keep in touch.

My mother was born and raised in Ireland and I remember going over to Ireland as a child to visit my Grandma. My mum moved from Ireland to Scotland when she married my dad, but every St. Patrick’s Day her brother would send her a package containing a bunch of things from home.

For my family, we always have corned beef hash on St. Patrick’s Day and I always think of my mum.

This is a cute slimline St. Patrick’s Day card that I made yesterday.

I used a stamp set from Pretty Pink Posh, a slimline die from Whimsy stamps and some paper from Photoplay.

I stamped the images and colored them with copic markers. I used some distress oxide inks to add some shading to the edges of the white paper.

I layered the papers and propped up the center panel with some foam tape.

I adhered everything to a white card base.

Thanks for stopping by! See you soon.

Lots going on…

The moon last night. It was much more impressing than this it this was the best my phone camera could do!!

It’s been quite a while since I’ve written here, sorry about that. There’s been so much going on I our lives that I just didn’t have the motivation. I will try to do better.

My oldest daughter changed jobs so now she’s working from home. So we had to get an office ready for her. My youngest daughter is leaving for 18 months so we’ve had lots to do to get her ready. Then throw in the usual health issues and also some kidney stones…it’s been a lot!

I’ve still been making cards so I do have a few to share. Yesterday I got some stamps from a company that was new to me so I’ll share one of the cards I made with one of their stamps.

I love sunflowers so I had to get this stamp. It was a very simple card to make.

For the background I created some clouds with a cloud stencil and some blue distress oxide inks.

I then used some copic markers to color the flowers. Three shades of yellow, three shades of green and two shades of brown. It really didn’t take very long.

The stamp set come with 2 sentiments so I chose “You are my sunshine”. I used to sing that song to my girls when they were little.

I matted the card in black cardstock and adhered everything to a white card base and the card was done!

I hope all is well with you. I will try very hard to post more often now that things are settling down for us.

Busy, busy…

How are you? We have been enjoying unseasonably mild weather for January, but it looks like all of that is going to change this weekend with snow on the way.

I’ve been so busy with my Etsy shop, mostly with paper hearts. Lots and lots of people have been ordering, which is great, but I haven’t had much time to create anything new! So last night I was determined to create something with some of the new stamps I got a few weeks ago.

This is one of the cards…

I love this little puppy. It’s a stamp set by Penny Black called “Happy Heart Day”.

I stamped and colored the image on some white cardstock. I used a die set from MFT stamps called stitched mod rectangle stax die-namics. I then layered it with some patterned paper.

I used some adhesive foam to add some dimension to the layers.

So that’s it for today. I hope to be able to have the time to share some more cards soon.

January blues.

I’ve been working on Valentine cards, trying to get through the January blues. Do you deal with that? The holidays are over and we are in the midst of winter. This year with the pandemic going on and all the unrest in the world, it seems worse than usual. So I’ve been trying to do things that lift my spirits. This little monkey makes me smile.

This die set is from Cottage Cutz. I love their dies. They have so many cute ones for all occasions. I cut the monkey and branch from brown cardstock and everything else from white cardstock.

For the white pieces, I colored them with alcohol markers. I then glued the pieces together.

For the background I used a background die from Simon Says Stamp. I matted that in red and adhered everything together.

I attached it to a white card base and then stamped “Happy Valentines Day”. It all came together very quickly.

I hope this finds you well and I will see you next time!

Christmas and mermaids and stuff!!

It’s hard to believe that Christmas is less than two weeks away! I am not ready. I haven’t finished my shopping and I haven’t even felt like it’s the Christmas season this year. We’ve been watching Christmas movies and listening to Christmas music but it all just feels weird this year. I know it will all fall into place and we will have a nice Christmas, but this whole years has just been strange!

We decorated last week and this year we just put up a small tree. We are remodeling and things are a mess. When we go our our yearly RV trips, I buy ornaments from the places we visit. I love to add them to the tree and it always brings up fun memories from our trips.

So, on to card making! I’m pretty much done with making Christmas cards so I’ve been moving on and playing with a few new stamps sets that I haven’t been able to use yet. This set is from mft stamps and it’s been out for a while, but I just picked it up recently.

For the front panel, I used a bubble background stamp from Hero Arts. I then die cut out a circle and added a frame.

For the background I used some ocean themed paper that I had in my stash and then I die cut some white card stock with a die I have that looks like fish scales and I layered that on top. I then adhered that to the front panel.

I stamped the images and colored them with copic markers and then glued them into the circle.

For the sentiment I stamped “You are mermazing” and propped that up on some foam strips. I added a little heart and then matted everything in navy card stock. I adhered it to a white card base.

I think it turned out cute and it’s a nice change from Christmas cards!

I hope you are staying well. See you next time!
