It’s hard to believe that Christmas is less than two weeks away! I am not ready. I haven’t finished my shopping and I haven’t even felt like it’s the Christmas season this year. We’ve been watching Christmas movies and listening to Christmas music but it all just feels weird this year. I know it will all fall into place and we will have a nice Christmas, but this whole years has just been strange!
We decorated last week and this year we just put up a small tree. We are remodeling and things are a mess. When we go our our yearly RV trips, I buy ornaments from the places we visit. I love to add them to the tree and it always brings up fun memories from our trips.
So, on to card making! I’m pretty much done with making Christmas cards so I’ve been moving on and playing with a few new stamps sets that I haven’t been able to use yet. This set is from mft stamps and it’s been out for a while, but I just picked it up recently.
For the front panel, I used a bubble background stamp from Hero Arts. I then die cut out a circle and added a frame.
For the background I used some ocean themed paper that I had in my stash and then I die cut some white card stock with a die I have that looks like fish scales and I layered that on top. I then adhered that to the front panel.
I stamped the images and colored them with copic markers and then glued them into the circle.
For the sentiment I stamped “You are mermazing” and propped that up on some foam strips. I added a little heart and then matted everything in navy card stock. I adhered it to a white card base.
I think it turned out cute and it’s a nice change from Christmas cards!
We’ve had snow showers in and off all day. Thankfully it’s not sticking to the ground but it’s definitely a reminder that winter is just around the corner.
The card I’m going to share today fits in with the snow theme.
I got the semi circle stitched dies from Sunny Studio Stamos and I love it…I’m sure you will see lots of cards using this die in the future! I combined it with the Snow Buddies stamp set from MFT Stamps.
I used the die to cut some white paper. For the middle piece of the die I used distress oxide inks and then splattered it with some water and then some perfect pearls to give it some texture and a little bit of shimmer.
I stamped the images and colored them with copic markers. I then cut them with my scan n cut.
For the front of the card, I stamped some snowflakes with versamark ink Alan’s heat embossed it with clear embossing powder for a subtle effect. It’s hard to see in the pictures.
I added some foam tape to the back of the white panel and added it to some navy card-stock. I then adhered it to a white card base. I inserted the blue background and used some liquid glue to secure it and then used the same liquid glue to add the images. I then stamped the sentiment on navy card stock and heat embossed it with white embossing powder.
I love this stamp set and and I love this die, so I’m thrilled with how the card came out.
There’s not a lot going on so lets just jump in and share a card!
This is a card I made the other day so we will start out with this one.
This is a slimline card (9″x4″) I made using a stamp set from My Favorite Things called “Party Animals”. I will add all the links below. I stamped the images and then colored them with a mixture of copic and spectrum noir alcohol makers. I stamp with Memento Tuxedo black ink onto Neenah Classic Crest 80lb solar white cardstock. After the images were colored I fussy cut them out.
I used Whimsy stamps Slimline Marquee Die for the “windows”. I created some clouds with distress oxide inks in tumbled glass and used the mini edge clouds stencil from My favorite things. I cut some grass with the Honey Bee stamps grass border die.
To create the card base I used Recollections heavy weight white cardstock from Michaels. I use it all the time for my card bases and really like it. I cut it to 9″x8″ and scored and folded it at 4″.
I used some photo play paper that I had lying around to create the background and to cover the “window” part of the card. I made sure to stamp my sentiments before I started to construct the card. I then used foam tape to prop up the window panel and then added the images with a mixture of liquid glue and foam tape.
So that is pretty much it for this card. I hope you like it. I enjoy doing slimline cards as it gives you more space to work with. I’ll be back soon with another card.
Not a lot is going on today. We are still dealing with aftershocks from the earthquake and felt a pretty big one last night. Its pretty unnerving. My brothers both messaged me today (from Scotland) to let me know that they are now on lockdown for at least 3 weeks. They both have essential jobs that can be done from home, so thats good. Our city is very quiet and I hope that means that most people are staying at home as much as possible.
Do you have a daughter/granddaughter who loves to dress up like a unicorn? We do! So when I saw this stamp set from MFT, I had to get it. So I made this card:
Its made from a stamp set called Unicorns and glitter. I stamped and colored the images and used the coordinating dies to cut them out. I used the mini cloud edge stencil from MFT to create the background and then backed it with some rainbow striped paper from Echo park.
What a day it has been so far! On the way to the passport office our car just died in the middle of the street. We know we have a sensor issue with it but its been working fine for a while. Not today when we have so much to do! Thankfully after resting for a while, it started up again and we were able to get home. We have to go out again this afternoon and we are hoping we make it to our destinations. On the way home we will stop off and hire a car for a few days while this one gets fixed. My husband will fix it over the weekend. One of our other cars has been in the shop for a week as my daughter got hit a couple of weeks ago. So its already been a struggle getting everyone to where they need to be, and everyone is on different schedules.
So I have a few minutes before we have to leave again and I’ve turned on one of my favorite bands, Pentatonix, and now I’m ready to share another card with you!
This is another slimline card. I really enjoy making these. I tend to make a lot of holiday themed cards but this one could be for a birthday, or just a way to let someone know you are thinking of them.
These stamps are from an adorable set from mftstamps.com called “Let’s stick together”. There are also matching dies. My daughter loves cacti so this set is her favorite!
I stamped the cacti images on Neenah Classic Crest solar white 80lb paper and colored them with a mixture of copic and spectrum noir alcohol markers. I used memento tuxedo black ink for the stamping.
I used the slimline marquee die from whimsystamps.com . I used tumbled glass distress oxide ink with the MFT mini cloud edge stencil from mftstamps.com to create a background for the cacti. The papers used are from the Echo Park happy easter collection. I propped the slimline marquee frame up with some Scotch 3M foam tape from amazon.com and added a few enamel dots to finish it off.
I hope you enjoyed this card and I will see you soon with another card.
