Where does the time go?

I knew it had been a while since I had posted, but didn’t realize how long it had been. We’ve had a lot going on health-wise in our family but I think we are back on track. One of my daughters and I suffer from chronic health issues and once in a while they flare up.

I hope that for those of you that celebrate, that you had a nice Thanksgiving. Ours was very nice but very quiet with just the four of us. I actually prefer that in some ways. Much less pressure!

I’ve been making lots of card in between everything that’s going on. Mostly Christmas cards. Today I’m sharing a shaker card that I made yesterday.

I die cut the window in the cars front and then added some acetate. I then covered the back with a double row of foam tape.

I added some snowflake and sequin embellishments and then covered the window with snowflake paper.

The snowman die is from Cottagw Cutz and it’s one of my favorites this year. I die cut him in white and then used alcohol markers to color his hat, scarf, nose and buttons.

I used a white gel pen to add dots and stripes to his hat and scarf and also added some highlights to his buttons and eyes.

I stamped the sentiment and adhered the snowman and then added everything to a light blue card base.

Snowy Day

We’ve had snow showers in and off all day. Thankfully it’s not sticking to the ground but it’s definitely a reminder that winter is just around the corner.

The card I’m going to share today fits in with the snow theme.

I got the semi circle stitched dies from Sunny Studio Stamos and I love it…I’m sure you will see lots of cards using this die in the future! I combined it with the Snow Buddies stamp set from MFT Stamps.

I used the die to cut some white paper. For the middle piece of the die I used distress oxide inks and then splattered it with some water and then some perfect pearls to give it some texture and a little bit of shimmer.

I stamped the images and colored them with copic markers. I then cut them with my scan n cut.

For the front of the card, I stamped some snowflakes with versamark ink Alan’s heat embossed it with clear embossing powder for a subtle effect. It’s hard to see in the pictures.

I added some foam tape to the back of the white panel and added it to some navy card-stock. I then adhered it to a white card base. I inserted the blue background and used some liquid glue to secure it and then used the same liquid glue to add the images. I then stamped the sentiment on navy card stock and heat embossed it with white embossing powder.

I love this stamp set and and I love this die, so I’m thrilled with how the card came out.

Winter card

We have warmed up a lot here in Utah but it looks like winter will arrive on the weekend so I doubt we will see these nice temperatures for a while.

I am enjoying making Winter and Christmas cards but I’m trying to squeeze in other types of cards too…though not today!! This one is a winter themed card using a new stamp from MFT stamps.

This little girl is so cute! She’s all dressed up for winter. I added the birds from another stamp set from MFT to help tie in with the sentiment.

I stamped and cut the images and then colored them with copic markers. The warm grays have become some of my favorites to use.

I used some snowflake patterned paper for the background and then die cut some snow banks. I layered everything together and then added some sticklers to the hats and the snow banks.

For the sentiment I stamped “Friends warm the coldest of days” and I matted the panel with some black cardstock. I love matting in black as it adds quite a pop to the card.

That’s it for today! See you next time.

Cute penguins and knitting!

Growing up in Scotland, we were taught to knit at a very young age. I remember being taught to knit a pair of slippers in elementary school. I love to knit. It’s something I’ve done for almost my entire life. I don’t do it as much now as I spend so much time making cards and cross stitching, but every once in a while I pull out my knitting needles.

So this image of cute penguins knitting a scarf caught my attention.

I think they are adorable! I started with a stamp from stamping Bella. I colored it with copic markers.

The sentiment is included with the stamp set…Knitting you a Merry Christmas. So cute.

I matted it in red and adhered it to a white card base. It’s a very simple card but those little penguins just make me smile!

Christmas Village card

Today I’m sharing a card I made with Newton’s Nook Main Street Christmas stamp set.

For this card I used some Hero Art’s reactive ink for the background and sprinkled some water on it to get the effect that I love.

I stamped the image and then colored it with copic markers. I wanted something really colorful, kind of like those beautiful Victorian homes that are painted in such lovely colors.

I used the matching dies to cut out the image and then adhere it to the background. I then stamped Santa and his sleigh and the sentiment with verse mark ink. I then embossed it with clear embossing powder.

I love this stamp. I really enjoyed coloring it.

That’s it for today. See you next time!

It finally feels like fall!

The weather has finally changed and things have cooled down, so it feels like fall now! Yesterday my girls and I went to the pumpkin patch for our yearly tradition of picking out pumpkins. It was a beautiful day and we had a lot of fun.

Its been a busy time so I haven’t blogged much about the cards that I have been making. So here’s one that I worked on the other day.

This is a Halloween box card that I made using “Halloween Hoo” by MFT stamps. I love these little owls!

I used the A2 box card die from Echo Park to make the box and used some of MFT’s Halloween papers to decorate it. Then I stamped the images and colored them with copic markers.

I used the coordinating dies to cut them out and then attached them to the box.

I think it came together quite well. I don’t know why I don’t make more of these box cards as I think they are very unique and usually turn out very cute.

I hope you are well and enjoying nice fall weather.

See you next time!

Halloween slimline card

Its finally cooled down a little for a few days but it’ll warm up again by the middle of the week. It really doesn’t feel like we are almost in October but Im still enjoying making Halloween cards. This one is a slimline card.

As always, I stamped my images and then cut them with the coordinating dies. I don’t always have the matching dies as sometimes I can’t afford to buy them. In that case I just fussy cut the images, something I don’t like to do but I do it anyway to get the effect I’m looking for. This time I was happy to have the matching dies.

After cutting the images I colored them with copic markers. I don’t have a big selection of markers but thats okay, I am usually able to make it work.

I used Whimsy stamps Slimline Marquee die for the top layer. I cut some Halloween cardstock and then used foam tape to give it some dimension. I used Trinity stamps Stitched card panels and windows for the next layer which I cut from some starry night cardstock and then for the last layer I used some bat cardstock and cut it so I left a 1/8th of an inch border around the card base.

I then added the sentiment “Happy Halloween to finish it off. I love slimline cards, it gives you so much more space to work with.

I hope this finds you well. See you next time!

I want to be a Princess already!!

This card was inspired by my granddaughter who just turned 5 the other day.

When she was up here visiting the other week, we were in the yard playing and she picked a dandelion. I told her she should make a wish before she blew on it. Her wish was “I want to be a Princess already”!! So I had to make her a princess card for her birthday.

I stamped the image and colored it with copic markers. I then cut it out with a decorative die from MFT. I layered princess themed papers from Echo Park and finished it off with an enamel heart from Doodlebug.

I love how girly it turned out and I hope it made her feel a little bit like a princess already!!

Till next time, take care.

Best Witches!

This card features the stamp set from MFT called “Best Witches”.

I did some ink blending on a piece of Strathmore Smooth cardstock using some distress oxide inks. I then splattered some water on it. Once that was done I left it to dry while I colored my images.

I colored them with copic markers and then cut them out with the coordinating dies.

I cut a piece of black cardstock for the road and stamped “best witches” on there with some white embossing powder. I then attached it to the card with some foam adhesive to give it some dimension.

I arranged the other images on the card adding some foam adhesive to the witch to keep her level with the road.

I love how it turned out

Unfortunately I think this stamp set has been discontinued but you can find other cute stamp sets at http://mftstamps.com.

Cute snowman die cut card

I’ve really been into making cards using dies lately. This one is using a snowman die from Cottage Cutz.

This was a more simple card to put together. I cut the dies with white cardstock and colored them with copic markers.

I layered all of the pieces together, which was pretty easy. I added some highlights with a white gel pen and added some dots to the scarf.

I used some cute patterned paper for the background and then stamped the sentiment “There’s snow one like you”. I adhered everything to a white cardbase and added a little enamel heart to finish it off.
