Halloween slimline card

Its finally cooled down a little for a few days but it’ll warm up again by the middle of the week. It really doesn’t feel like we are almost in October but Im still enjoying making Halloween cards. This one is a slimline card.

As always, I stamped my images and then cut them with the coordinating dies. I don’t always have the matching dies as sometimes I can’t afford to buy them. In that case I just fussy cut the images, something I don’t like to do but I do it anyway to get the effect I’m looking for. This time I was happy to have the matching dies.

After cutting the images I colored them with copic markers. I don’t have a big selection of markers but thats okay, I am usually able to make it work.

I used Whimsy stamps Slimline Marquee die for the top layer. I cut some Halloween cardstock and then used foam tape to give it some dimension. I used Trinity stamps Stitched card panels and windows for the next layer which I cut from some starry night cardstock and then for the last layer I used some bat cardstock and cut it so I left a 1/8th of an inch border around the card base.

I then added the sentiment “Happy Halloween to finish it off. I love slimline cards, it gives you so much more space to work with.

I hope this finds you well. See you next time!

Saturday afternoon

Its been a hard week with one thing and another. Its been hard to get motivated to make any cards but last night I made two. I’ll share one with you today.

I love to make slimline cards so I’ll start with this one.

I picked up a new stamp set yesterday so that gave me some motivation! This stamp set is called “Fetch” and its from Photoplay. I love dogs so its always fun to use them in a card. My card base is by Recollections and is their white heavy weight cardstock. I cut it to 9″x8″ and scored it at 4″. So the finished base is 9″x4″. I layered some burgundy faux stitched cardstock on the base, leaving about an 1/8th of an inch of the white base showing. I then cut some plaid paper with the Whimsy Slimline Marquee die. I then cut the same die with some heart cardstock and filled the openings in with those.

I used copic and spectrum noir alcohol markers to color the images and then cut them out with the coordinating dies. I die cut a heart and stamped the sentiment on that, using some distress oxide ink to shade the edges. The sentiment I chose was “Missing you is RUFF”.

I used some Scotch foam adhesive tape to give some dimension to the window panel and then adhered everything together. I like how it turned out.

Since we are on the subject of dogs…here is a picture of our little Maggie!!

I hope you will stop by again soon to see some more cards. See you soon!

Hello!

There’s not a lot going on so lets just jump in and share a card!

This is a card I made the other day so we will start out with this one.

This is a slimline card (9″x4″) I made using a stamp set from My Favorite Things called “Party Animals”. I will add all the links below. I stamped the images and then colored them with a mixture of copic and spectrum noir alcohol makers. I stamp with Memento Tuxedo black ink onto Neenah Classic Crest 80lb solar white cardstock. After the images were colored I fussy cut them out.

I used Whimsy stamps Slimline Marquee Die for the “windows”. I created some clouds with distress oxide inks in tumbled glass and used the mini edge clouds stencil from My favorite things. I cut some grass with the Honey Bee stamps grass border die.

To create the card base I used Recollections heavy weight white cardstock from Michaels. I use it all the time for my card bases and really like it. I cut it to 9″x8″ and scored and folded it at 4″.

I used some photo play paper that I had lying around to create the background and to cover the “window” part of the card. I made sure to stamp my sentiments before I started to construct the card. I then used foam tape to prop up the window panel and then added the images with a mixture of liquid glue and foam tape.

So that is pretty much it for this card. I hope you like it. I enjoy doing slimline cards as it gives you more space to work with. I’ll be back soon with another card.

Thanks for stopping by. Take care.

Hello

Hello!  My name is Mary and I have created this blog in order to share some of the cards I make as well as some of the goings on in my life!

Today the clocks went forward and I am already feeling the effect!  It usually takes me about two weeks to get used to the new time.  I am looking forward to more daylight and I’m really excited about spring and the prospect of more consistent good weather.

I’ve been making a lot of Easter cards lately. There are so many cute stamps and papers out there. I really need to make a budget for myself as I tend to go a little crazy with spending at times.  Too many cute choices!

So today I’d like to feature a slimline Easter card that I have made using Doodlebug stamps.

I like to make my slimline cards a little bigger than others I have seen so that they fit a #10 envelope better. So this card measures 9.25″x 4″.  I used Recollections white 110lb paper for my cardbase. I really enjoy this paper as its sturdy enough for card bases but I can also stamp and  use alcohol markers on it without any issues.

I cut the frame for the card with the Slimline Postage stamp die from whimsystamps.com .  I used distress oxides in shaded lilac and tumbled glass along with the mini cloud edges stencil by MFT to create the clouds.

The stamp set is by Doodlebug and it is called Hoppy Easter.  They were stamped on Neenah classic crest solar white 80lb paper with Memento Tuxedo black ink and colored with a mixture of copic markers and Spectrum Noir alcohol makers.

I fussy cut the images and adhered them to the card with Art Glitter glue.  I used some patterned paper from Bella Blvd sweet sweet spring collection for the background. Added some doodlebug enamel hearts and it was done!  I really like how it turned out. I like using a mixture of patterned paper and stamps for my cards.

I will be back in a day or two with another card!  See you then.
