Hello!

My daughter had surgery last week. She’s doing well now and we are hoping that the surgery will fix the issues she has had. She is hoping to head back to California as soon as she can. There’s been a lot of stress, naturally. That means that in addition taking care of my daughter, my body has to react to the stress. So I’ve been dealing with all kinds of issues which has slowed me down quite a bit this week. I get so frustrated when I can’t do the things I need or want to do. Do any of you deal with health issues that slow you down? I feel so useless sometimes.

I haven’t been able to get into the craft room much but here’s a card I managed to squeeze in.

This was pretty easy as I was just using some paper elements from Hunkydory.

All of it is just made from layering their beautiful papers.

If you look closely you can see that I have layered certain areas of the card to give it dimension. This is a Hunkydory decolarge kit which provides all of these pieces which makes it so easy to put a card together.

I also love the foiling on their papers. If you are new to cardmaking, this is a great way to start. I got my kit at http://www.paperwishes.com

I love the flowers and springtime feel in this card. For Mother’s Day I usually get some flowers to plant so I’ve been filling my planters here and there when I feel up to it. I love to look out and see beautiful flowers. They make me happy

I hope this post finds you well. I’d love to hear about how you handle chronic health issues and the anxiety that goes along with it, if that something you deal with. I’d love to hear from you in general so send me a message!

See you next time!

Mothers Day card

We are having another beautiful day today. I pulled out my patio set on the deck and its been nice to sit out in the sun, even though its not super warm yet.  The trees are starting to bloom and the birds are chirping so loudly!  Even our resident woodpecker is back, pecking holes in the beams on our deck!  We’ve had ducks in our yard and the snakes have even been seen a couple of times, though its still kind of cold for them.  We have a canal that runs behind our yard and so we get lots of ducks and birds that like to be around there.  There is also a walking trail along side the canal so we see people jogging or walking frequently.  Our little dog likes to run from one side of the yard to the other, checking everyone out.

So Mother’s Day is coming up next month.  I decided its time to work on some cards for my shop.  I found a few cute digital stamps on Etsy that I will be using over the next few days.

This one is adorable.  A little girl holding a bouquet of flowers for her mom.

I downloaded the stamp and printed it out on some Neenah bright white 65lb cardstock. I just use my inkjet printer and I haven’t had any issues using alcohol markers with the ink or the paper.   I colored the image with alcohol markers and then stamped the sentiment in the top left corner.  I die cut the image and then used some adhesive backed foam sheets to give it some dimension.  For the backing I used some paper from Bo Bunny and framed that with some purple cardstock.  I added a paper doily to add some interest.  I used some distress oxide ink to shade the panel the image is on and adhered all of it together.  I then added a couple of enamel hearts from Doodle Bug.

Here’s some of the supplies I used:

Calm before the storm

It was a beautiful day yesterday and it really felt like spring.  We reached 68 degrees with lots of sunshine. Today it is lovely and sunny again but we are expecting rain and then snow over the next few days!  Its definately springtime in Utah.

Yesterday we spent most of the day going to 3 different stores, trying to get all the groceries we need.  I have an order placed for Friday (used to be able to get same day pick up but now its 4 days out) but last time we didn’t even receive half of what we needed.  So this time we went from store to store and managed to get most of what we need…other than Toilet paper, paper towels and tissues!  Those are like gold dust.  So, once we get Friday’s order, we will be good for a few weeks. It was nice to see that the stores had a lot more stock available, last time we went it was hard to find anything we needed.  I really try to limit shopping and only go out every few weeks.  I do worry about my daughters who work with the public on a daily basis.  Especially my daughter who works in a bank and there are no safety measures in place for her, other than hand santizer.

I’ve been avoiding the news as much as I can as its better for my mental health.

I made another set of “hello” cards yesterday.  I’ve been enjoying using embossing folders lately.  This one features a wreath and I stamped “hello” in the middle of it.

I used some cardstock from Michaels which has 5 different pastel shades in it. I embossed each panel and then stamped the “hello” in the middle.  They are very simple cards but I really like how they turned out.   Some of the supplies I used are listed below:

Woke up to snow!

We woke up to snow this morning!  Its turned to rain now but we are supposed to get more snow overnight.  Thankfully these spring snow storms usually melt off quickly.  Despite the rain, I can see people out walking their dogs in the park. I’ve been watching Netflix this morning, curled up in a blanket, with my dog in my lap.  Nice and cozy!

Last night, I managed to put a card together. Its very simple and everything I used has been in my stash for a long time.  Here it is:

The stamp is by Trinity stamps and I think it was from a monthly kit by Scrapping For Less. I think it may have been an exclusive as I can’t find it on the website.  The embossing folder is by Sizzix and has been discontinued.  I stamped the flower and then colored it with alcohol markers.  Then I fussy cut it out.  I embossed the background using Neenah Solar White Classic Crest 80lb cardstock.  I wrapped a green sheer ribbon around it and layered some yellow cardstock around it.  I adhered the flower with Scotch 3M foam tape and put it all on an A2 cardbase which was made using Recollections heavy weight white cardstock.  Thats it.  Very simple.
I hope you are staying well and safe.  See you next time!
