Hello!

My daughter had surgery last week. She’s doing well now and we are hoping that the surgery will fix the issues she has had. She is hoping to head back to California as soon as she can. There’s been a lot of stress, naturally. That means that in addition taking care of my daughter, my body has to react to the stress. So I’ve been dealing with all kinds of issues which has slowed me down quite a bit this week. I get so frustrated when I can’t do the things I need or want to do. Do any of you deal with health issues that slow you down? I feel so useless sometimes.

I haven’t been able to get into the craft room much but here’s a card I managed to squeeze in.

This was pretty easy as I was just using some paper elements from Hunkydory.

All of it is just made from layering their beautiful papers.

If you look closely you can see that I have layered certain areas of the card to give it dimension. This is a Hunkydory decolarge kit which provides all of these pieces which makes it so easy to put a card together.

I also love the foiling on their papers. If you are new to cardmaking, this is a great way to start. I got my kit at http://www.paperwishes.com

I love the flowers and springtime feel in this card. For Mother’s Day I usually get some flowers to plant so I’ve been filling my planters here and there when I feel up to it. I love to look out and see beautiful flowers. They make me happy

I hope this post finds you well. I’d love to hear about how you handle chronic health issues and the anxiety that goes along with it, if that something you deal with. I’d love to hear from you in general so send me a message!

See you next time!

What about a box card today?

So today was another day spent at home. I am trying to stay home unless I have to go out.  Our state has limited contact to 10 people or under. My husband and daughters are still going to work, although my daughters have reduced hours now.  I am trying not to stress over everything but its hard.  I have been trying to limit the amount of news that I watch, just getting the headlines daily, but sometimes even that is too much.  There’s a fine line for me between staying informed and avoiding too much stress.  So I try to come into my craft room daily and create something to try to take my mind off everything going on.  We are still dealing with aftershocks from the earthquake.  Thankfully I am not feeling them although today we had some stronger ones of 3.3.

What do you think about box cards?  I think they are pretty cute so I decided to make one with a new stamp set I got from MFT stamps called “Party Animals”.

I cut the box using an Echo Park die and stamped and fussy cut the animals.  I used alcohol markers to color them. I used a Honey Bee die to cut the grass and I decorated the box with paper from Echo Park.  After the coloring it was just a matter of glueing everything together.
The supplies I used are:
Echo Park A2 Pop Up Card Box Die
MFT Party Animal stamp set.
Honey Bee Stamps grass border die
Echo Park dots and stripes paper pad

Trying to de-stress!

We said goodbye to my friend on Saturday.  It was a beautiful service.  Its hard to believe she is really gone and I will miss her a lot.

I’ve made a few cards over the last few days.  Its been very stressful here with many different things to deal with, not to mention the stress over the coronavirus.  So crafting helps me relax.

As I said in my last post, I am really enjoying using dies lately.  This Easter card I made uses a die from Cottage Cutz and features a little bunny hitching a ride in a truck full of carrots!

I die cut the pieces for the truck, bunny and carrots from Neenah Classic Crest Solar white 80lb card stock and colored all the pieces with copic or spectrum noir alcohol markers.  I then glued all the pieces together with Art glitter glue.   I then cut the grass with a die from Honey Bee stamps.  The background is a paper from Bo Bunny which I glued to the card base.  I make my card bases from 110lb white recollections paper.  Then I stamped Happy Easter on the paper.  I adhered the first layer of grass with Art glitter glue and the second layer of grass was propped up with 3M Scotch foam tape to give it some dimension. I glued the truck flat to the paper and added some carrots into the grass.
I love how it turned out.  I hope you like it too.

I hope that you aren’t too stressed with all thats going on in the world right now.  I think a little kindness will go a long way.
